A condition known as PCOS occurs when the ovaries produce an excessive amount of androgens, or male sex hormones, which are typically seen in trace amounts in women. The numerous small cysts (fluid-filled sacs) in the ovaries are referred to as polycystic ovarian syndrome. But while some women with this sickness do not have cysts, other women do not have this disorder. The release of a developed egg from an ovary is known as ovulation. This happens in order for male sperm to fertilize it. The egg is expelled throughout your menstrual cycle if it is not fertilized.Rarely, a woman's hormone production may fall short of what is needed for ovulation. The ovaries may produce a large number of small cysts if ovulation is absent.
